How to get started

Hi,

here a small collection of tips how to get started at v-band.de and create songs together with other musicians around the world.

The spirit of v-band.de is a free room for any kind of creativity. That means that any kind of idea is welcome for any kind of project.

If YOU think that any project around here requires Woodwinds, do them if you can - you could do them even if there're already some Woodwinds added and YOU don't like them. If you're satisfied with the result, you reached the target.

If you have some ideas for new songs, get them up - as much as you like. If you want to create hundrets of projects, do it. Musicians around the world would add their ideas. If you like the ideas: fine! Use it, mix it, cut it take them to another project etc.

If you don't like them, work out new ideas with the musician or simply enjoy that someone was able to use your ideas for something anyone else likes!

It's easy, it's open and makes fun - try it!

Hey Alex,

I always wanted to know...
What is the proper etiquette for posting files (for your own song /someone elses song)...?

>> total mix only, or all parts seperately, or both...??

I have always been posting just the mixes of my own songs, or what I add to others...
I hope nobody was offended, it is just easier, takes less time, and up until now I didn't have enough room on my hard drives to keep separate files...
I got a 500 gig HD for x-mas, so I can do it now if necessary...

thanks,
Steve

Hi,

most projects are easier to handle with one mixup and one seperate file per instrument. Most projects are created with seperates, but you could also provide them by request if needed.

Good Evening
My brother and I are collaborating on some music that I've written. The question is ; can I upload a Cubase Project file and have him download it to put in his 2 cents or will I have to send them one wav file at a time, also are wav files kosher? or do I have to convert everything into MP3? Thanks in advance

Welcome Marvin!

We could setup a private board for you, on this board you could share any file type you like.

For every "open" section we reccommend MP3 as this file format is most compatible with any operating system or audio workstation.

Hope that helps.
