I have a couple acoustic guitars so far. Need drums, bass, lyrics, and vocals for sure. Other could be some kind of keys, strings, lite percussion, sound effects.
Editing is ok. If you do, please be sure to cut right on the downbeat.
If you play on this...please, high quality tracks...I don't want mp3 on this project. Thanks
I used the power of Ableton Live to tighten these guitar tracks. I rewired the guitars into Sonar, and it is now ready for the rest of the project. A bit of comression on this and I can adjust or take if off anytime. No click or drums on this but you can probably tell that it will line up well with the beat.
My sonar went crazy recording this....i said i had to format my pc and had
everything working.........i lied...thought it was working but...
example
bass drum track just sounded shite....kinda clipping...changed mic
postions-still the same...recorded without the song playing and it
seemed ok.......imported the song again....sounded crap...where is
the logic in that ?
Anyways going out tonight so gotta go but one thing is i know the song
now because i messed with it for so long....d/l latest drivers from
alesis......seems to have worked.
PCs and logic just dont seem to fit sometimes...strange
He was a man - infamous for his heavy hand. Dealing in ways that brought a curse to his name. Lord of the sea never set a foot on land, Feared everywhere, such was his fame.
Years long gone, your memory blown away with the wind. Pirate lord of the sea, your name escapes me. But we still fear you. Somewhere beneath the depths your ship awaits, with you at the helm; in hell! Pirate lord; he haunts me. Pirate lord; he calls me. To land afar, where his gold awaits. His legacy forgotten, still lies. Across the sea we'll sail, We'll never fear anything in life.
I am a man - anonymous and bound to the land. Never set sail nor set foot upon a deck. Call has been made, I'll do the things I never knew I can. The gold awaits me in a shipwreck.

I can fix this up nicely. I'll post more info about this track in the next day or two. Most of it is basic chord and sequence. I'll look at it tomorrow and come up with another premix.
Luke, you are simply an amazing singer songwriter.
Mark, great job on these drums! I do hear the clipping. I only heard it a couple times. I can probably fix those parts by cutting and pasting a good part over those sections. However, I much rather have wav track as I cannot fix a track has been, uh, mp3ed. Whenever dude, we still have a long time before this track is finalized. As long as I have it by then this mp3 track is fine.
Hank, Steve, Panzer...any of you guys up to laying the bass for this project? If you don't have time right now that's fine. Right now I just want to know if anybody is up to doing that? I can lay the bass myself but I don't have a bass guitar, and I do prefere a real bass if we can get it. Yeah, so just let me and thanks.
Luke, yeah your vocal track is dry on this mix...lol.
Honestly though...9 out of 10 times I prefer dry. It gives a "real" sound imho.
Edit Note: I forgot to paste the link...lol. Not sure if the mp3 player is working though. However, if you have quicktime you can always double click. Or you can download (recommended)
This is something I've been shaking my head about for the longest time. There is a lot of traffic through v-band. I don't know what to say. We've talked about this...Alex, Luke, and I...and I, uh, just don't know what people think.
I have an update mix. This is sounding better and better. That clipping drives me nuts. My diddling on the guitar...lol..on a raw track is kind of annoying me. I'm not sure what to do with that yet. I think it adds something but I don't know if it helps. I can handle the comments if you have some?
I think this may be the best pirate song you guys have done so far... I hear a big Beatles influence here... I think this could use a Flute or Piccolo solo in some parts... Whaddya think Harry...? Where ya been Harry...? LOL

Mark, I just checked out your drums track in Sound Forge. I don't see any clipping. Trust me, I know what clipping looks like...and your track doesn't have it. Well, the wav track doesn't have it. The mp3 might be where it happened. I thought I heard it at the end and zoomed in real tight...nope not clipping and it sounds fine. Awesome! I don't want to edit drums...
Side note: I'm considering redoing my guitars. I can get cleaner guitar tracks because I don't need mics and I don't need acoustics. Still thinking about it though.
More later
Bottom line is the drums did not clicp...in my opinion.
Exactly Jerry...
It didn't sound (or look) like clipping to me either...
That's why I thought it might be a bad /damaged mic...
I've seen (heard) that before and that's what it sounds like...
When a mic is used improperly (wrong type for the job) or pushed too hard, that's what happens...
Buuut we don't know for sure until it's brought to the electronics repairman...

After we finish the original version of this song...we should have a v-band remix contest with this song. I'm talking about a dance remix.
Comments?
Anybody doubt that I can do this?
Just kidding...but not about the remix contest. We need some kind of...at v-band you know...where even noobs can get involved.
I was thinking earlier this week that this needs a clap or something to create a dance mood. That still might happen on the original version but for sure its going to happen in my remix.
I can't wait!
After we have Harry's tracks I will post link to all of the files in one post.

Hey Jerrry, tha mix3 was good, though IMHO needs the guitar and vox brought forward, and bass a tweak back. In the car (with a sub) it sounds a little bass heavy and the feature (guitars) of the track is hard to hear.
Yeah, no problem Luke. I haven't really taken any of my mixes serious yet. I'm still waiting for Harry's parts. When I have that I will tweak that bass back a little bit and give the mix my best shot. I just don't want to spend a lot time without having all of the parts because I'll end up starting completely over anyway.
Ok, I have the whole project, the original files unedited in one folder for download. It is 5 rar parts, 209 megs. You have to click on each part to get to the download link. They allow only 50 megs per file so that's the way it is. However, Microsoft (Windows Live) provide a very nice high speed download. You can download more than one at a time too.
These files will not be as tight as some of the previous mixes. The reason why is they haven't been tweaked. I want it that way because __________, and I thnk it is the best thing to do. Actually, I did run one tweak to make sure that all files are 44100 16 bit. Some were and some were not so I just made them all the same. Hopefully I got this package put together right. I'll let you know if there is something bogus about the tracks. No news on that is good news.
Later I will move this project to another topic. Probably Shipwreck Remix Contest.
More on that later becaues right now I want to setup for my final original version mix. I will be starting from scratch using the same exact files provide below. Later in the new thread I will suggest that a full remix of the orignal verions is perfectly fine too.
I just did a basic setup of this project using the rars files. Yeah, it works... It takes a little bit to get it lined up, and that is where I am right now. I have it basically set.
The bottom line is that anybody who does mixes should be able to line these tracks up (from the rar download above). Take the snap to grid off and move it around until it sounds right.
I'll let you know when I have my full mix done. After that I will be messing with the parts to try and come up with something that sounds like this, but different style. First I'll get my final original mix done. I think I have to crash first though...lol
Harry, great job on those tracks! Sounds Pirates! Awesome, and thanks again.
Wow, this is harder than I thought getting those tracks in sync. I can do it but let me not kid myself and others because this is a difficult and or timely process. In fact, I have to give it a rest now. I still don't have this project (original version) fully in sync. Just a heads up that's all. I don't want to lead with the impression that you could have this project tight in 5 minutes. No...its not that easy. However, you don't have to do this...lol. Seriously, if you want the orginal mix you do but you can start on a remix and skip some of these things that I bring up.
As noted in one of the members only threads I would be working this mix this week. I just spent 3 hours working this track from scratch (the full download from my skydrive). Let me just make a note about those rar from the download. It was damaged (shid). I had to download rar repair tool to save (fix) it.
About this mix project:
Timing issues on every single track. That's why I spent 3 hours on it. I did some editing out of one acoustic guitar. That helped a lot. I'll be doing more editing out (details skipped).
Ok, so that's enough for today and give this a good listen. Don't turn it off too soon or you will miss Harry's amazing flute solos. You rule dude.. Luke, I got you on deck
Awesome, and I'll be working on this tonight. I worked on some 5090 stuff as I have been idle for much of the past couple weeks. Yeah, but I wanted you guys to hear this instrumental mix and now you have and on to the full mix. I'm taking a break right now but withen a couple 3 hours I will have the mix.
Please Right-Click and select "Save Target As..." or similar to download this files.
Edit Note: Alex, I am satisfied with this mix, and if you could update the songs page, thanks bro. Jerry, Mark, Steve, Harry, Luke... awesome guys! Thank you

Very Good. Hey, Harry, do you want to put this track up on V-band Pirates Page?
Vocals and all parts are put into the mix excellently. Jerry you the man...
p.s. Sorry about any mixed in place FX in my tracks.... I'm trying to avoid that in future, though when I mix I often have different fx on different vocal tracks, I guess I should separate vocal tracks and post 3 or 4 FLACs for you to experiment with it.
Yes, Alex this track is finished.
Flutes RULE I love that with the pirates theme.... next pirate track must include some violin too (even if it is midi LOL)
Yeah, I noticed the extra reverb and decided to let it go. I could have fixed that using automation to lower the rever, but I didn't...sorry. It sounds cool though and don't bother me.
I want a full vocals mix but with the main vocal straight down the center with no wide reverb. I actually monofied the reverb for the track Then I added a send to another bus, and used the channels tool to cut the center leaving only the harmony vocals. Unfortunatly when you do that you loose the stereo. I used reverb to try give it that a wide effect. The part that popped out was the one part with extra fx, that I didn't fix. Hmmm, hey but yeah the extra vocal tracks could up huge in the mixes. Your vocal mixes are always good but I think probably two would be better, and enough. One mono, or straight down the middle and another with just harmony parts in stereo. Or multiple tracks is fine too. Whatever is easy. If you don't have time for that...lol...then one track is cool. But when you do have time...that would be cool.
Guys, I made mistakes on this...I know that, and I can't help it. I'm telling you that this is a tough mix, and I don't know what is wrong, other than what Luke and I discussed. I had my processor max'ed out before I called it quits. Yeah, seriously, can't even listen to the mix until it is mixed down. If there is something botheriing any of you guys (who worked on this project) I still have it active, and I can go in and make adjustments? Otherwise...next
